FlowBreak is a macOS app that reminds you to take breaks from sitting. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: FlowBreak does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
FlowBreak uses your Mac's camera to detect whether you are present at your desk. Camera frames are analyzed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework, and are never uploaded or sent to us or any third party. FlowBreak does not perform facial recognition or identify individuals; it only detects the presence of a face and, optionally, an open-palm gesture to dismiss a reminder. The frames used for presence detection are processed in memory and are not retained (see "Session photos" below for the one optional exception).
FlowBreak includes an optional "Capture session photos" feature that is turned off by default. If you turn it on, the app saves a small timestamped photo about once a minute while you're at your desk, so you can review your day as a timelapse in the Stats window. These photos:
None. FlowBreak has no user accounts and does not require you to provide any personal information. It does not include analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs. Nothing you do in the app is transmitted to us.
FlowBreak keeps a local history of your sitting and break sessions (start time, end time, and duration) so it can show you statistics, plus the optional session photos described above. All of this is stored only on your Mac, in the app's local data folder, and is never transmitted off your device. You can delete it at any time from Settings or by removing the app's data.
FlowBreak can optionally connect to a companion device on your own local network that you configure yourself (for example, a physical break-reminder companion). This communication stays on your local network, is entirely optional, and is off unless you set it up. No data is sent to the internet.
FlowBreak is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.
